Dr Celia Cooper is currently the Head of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases at the Children's Youth and Women's Health Service. In the past, she has worked in the Communicable Disease Control Branch at the Department of Human Services, Flinders Medical Centre and the Royal Darwin Hospital.
Dr Cooper has established and managed a state-wide hospital-acquired infection surveillance and control program. She currently serves on several national committees related to infection control and antibiotic resistance.
Her areas of interest include public health, infection prevention and control, antibiotic resistance and stewardship and infections in pregnant women, neonates and children.
