Dr Nicola Poplawski is a paediatrician and clinical geneticist. She trained in New Zealand (University of Otago, Dunedin and Taranaki Base Hospital, New Plymouth), South Australia (Women's and Children's Hospital, Adelaide) and Canada (the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto).
She works in the Adult Genetics Unit at the Royal Adelaide Hospital where, working closely with laboratories, she provides families with genetic diagnoses, counselling and testing. She also provides outpatient consultation clinics at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital (paediatric cancer genetics), Flinders Medical Centre and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Dr Poplawski’s research focuses on clinical aspects of inherited diseases, including familial cancer and familial endocrine disorders. Her other main area of interest is genetic education for the public, families and health care professionals.
