EDTA+Gel – new 8mL tubes
26 April 2017
SA Pathology is replacing the current 5mL EDTA+Gel collection tube with an 8mL tube.
Using the new 8mL EDTA+Gel tube for the tests listed below provides improved sample integrity, storage and processing conditions, and the additional sample size provides greater flexibility should re-testing be required.
What to collect in 8mL EDTA+Gel
- Blood borne viral NAT tests, a dedicated tube is required for each of these:
- HIV viral load or genotyping
- Hep B viral load
- Hep C viral load
- Hep C RNA or genotyping
