New Toxicology Only Patient Centre

SA Pathology has opened a Toxicology only collection centre in Beverley at Pro Health Care Midwest’s Specialist Centre.

The collection centre is the first of its kind for the service and opened earlier this month, creating a multitude of time slots for patients. All appointments are dedicated to urine drug screening and therefore testing availability is not affected by demand for blood collection.

The centre will revolutionise testing for pre- employment patients, as they are often only provided a 48-hour window for testing.

Testing at this site covers a comprehensive range of illicit and prescription substances including:

• Methamphetamines (Ice)
• Amphetamines – including MDMA (Speed, Ecstasy)
• Cannabinoids (Marijuana and Hash)
• Benzodiazepines (Tranquillizers and Sedatives)
• Opiates (Heroin and Morphine)
• Cocaine

Nancy Arena, the Practice Manager believes “this is a vital service to have in the western suburbs and it’s a major convenience for patients to have the service onsite.”

She encourages other medical practices within the western precinct to refer patients to the centre.

The collection centre is located within Pro Health Care Midwest on Port Road and is open to the public Wednesdays and Fridays, 8 am to 12 noon with a view to expand hours.
