Professor Khong graduated from the University of Sheffield and trained in Histopathology and Cytology at The Royal Free Hospital, London, St George’s Hospital, London and John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford.
His awards include American Cancer Society Eleanor Roosevelt International Cancer Research Fellowship awarded by International Union against Cancer, Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) Excellence in Women’s Health Award and the John Emery Lecture Medal awarded by Paediatric Pathology Society.
Professor Khong is nationally and internationally recognised for his expertise in obstetric and perinatal pathology and is a sought after speaker and lecturer at international meetings and courses. He is the author of three books: Keeling’s Fetal and Neonatal Pathology, Pathology of the placenta, and Diagnostic Endometrial Pathology.
He is a former President of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (2011-2013), and is a current member of the Ministerially-appointed Medical Services Advisory Committee. He was a member of the National Pathology Accreditation Advisory Council (NPAAC)(2005-2011) and chaired several of its standards writing committees. He was also Chair of the Medical Testing Accreditation Advisory Committee of the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA), Australia (2015-2020).
