Dr Manton is a graduate of the University of Tasmania, and undertook his postgraduate training in anatomical pathology in Adelaide and Glasgow.
He was appointed as Consultant Pathologist at the Women's and Children's Hospital in 2005, where he and his colleagues provide a full perinatal and paediatric pathology service including routine diagnostic histopathology, placental pathology and specialised muscle, renal and paediatric tumour pathology. The department also provides a perinatal/paediatric autopsy service for all public and private hospitals in South Australia and some interstate hospitals.
Dr Manton co-authored the chapter on skeletal muscle pathology in the 4th edition (2007) of Fetal and Neonatal Pathology edited by Jean Keeling and Yee Khong.
His interests include paediatric tumour pathology and paediatric skeletal muscle pathology.
