Dr Moffat graduated in Medicine with an intercalated Honours Degree in Immunology from Glasgow University in 1994. He undertook his postgraduate training in the Glasgow School of Pathology, which included a one-year exchange to the IMVS in Adelaide. He obtained Membership of the Royal College of Pathologists (UK & Ireland) in 2000.
Dr Moffat worked as Consultant Histopathologist/Cytopathologist at Glasgow Royal Infirmary from 2001, specialising in haematopathology before migrating to Adelaide in 2005 to work as a Consultant in Tissue Pathology at IMVS, obtaining Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia in 2006. He was head of the Anatomical Pathology Department at the RAH site from 2011 until 2014. He is currently head of the Anatomical Pathology Department at Flinders Medical Centre. He has honorary academic status with Flinders University. His professional roles include being Chair of Tissue Disciplines for the RCPA Quality Assurance Program between 2015 and 2021. He is the Co-Chief Examiner in Anatomical Pathology for the RCPA.
Dr Moffat’s particular interests include respiratory pathology, haematopathology and non-cervical cytology.
