Dr Papanaoum is a graduate of the University of Adelaide and undertook her laboratory microbiology and physician training at the IMVS, Royal Adelaide Hospital and Flinders Medical Centre.
She was appointed to the Department of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases at Flinders Medical Centre in 2007. She provides laboratory microbiology, clinical infectious diseases and infection control services at FMC and at associated hospitals. Prior to this, she had worked as an Infectious Diseases Consultant at the Royal Adelaide Hospital since 1994.
Dr Pananaoum has interests in general microbiology and antimicrobial resistance, infection after orthopaedic and general surgery, infections in immunocompromised hosts and ICU, infection control, HIV and viral hepatitis.
