Expanded Domiciliary Service for COVID-19 Testing

From Wednesday 29 April SA Pathology has doubled its metropolitan COVID-19 collection capacity to accommodate up to 60 patient visits per day.
The expanded service will operate between 8.00am and 4.00pm, 7 days a week and covers all metropolitan areas, including Residential Aged Care Facilities (RACF) and hotels accommodating persons quarantined following travel.
From Wednesday 6 May, SA Pathology will also expand its regional domiciliary service to include COVID-19 testing to residential homes and RACF within a 30-minute radius of a regional pathology laboratory and select patient centres.
Criteria for a domiciliary visit follows current guidelines, including:
• Fever
• Respiratory symptoms of any type
• Inability to attend a drive-through or walk-in assessment clinic
• Any direction from Communicable Disease Control Branch (CDCB).
Booking a visit – metropolitan areas
Bookings can only be made Monday to Friday and all bookings require a request form from a GP.
Fax the request form to SA Pathology on 8222 8950, ensuring the following details are recorded:
- Adequate clinical details
- Patient name, DOB, home address, contact phone number (mobile is preferred)
- Clinician contact details in case we have trouble contacting the patient.
The domiciliary service will coordinate the booking direct with the patient.
Note – requests received after 4.30pm will be processed and, where possible, collected the following business day.
For urgent requests and collections on weekends please contact the SA Pathology Call Centre on 8222 3000.
Booking a visit – regional areas
Bookings can only be made Monday to Friday and all bookings require a request form from a GP.
Call the nearest regional SA Pathology laboratory or patient centre location to arrange a booking and fax the request form, ensuring the following details are recorded:

Patient name, DOB, home address, contact phone number (mobile is preferred)
Clinician contact details in case we have trouble contacting the patient.
