New headsets deliver smiles in paediatric collection centres

SA Pathology have launched Smileyscopes at four of our paediatric collection centres to assist phlebotomists and patients in reducing anxiety associated with blood withdrawal and needles.

 

The Smileyscopes have a host of virtual reality and meditation programs included, which help to calm the patient and assist the phlebotomist too.

Omega - 3 testing reducing early birth risk

SA Pathology and SAHMRI have partnered up to offer Omega-3 testing to women with singleton pregnancies in South Australia.

 

The study aims to reduce the risk of early birth.

Angela has 'patients'

Angela is helping deliver a vital service at the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

 

Located in the outpatient area of the Royal Adelaide Hospital, the SA Pathology collection centre is a constant hive of patients, nurses and phlebotomists, with our staff attending to hundreds of people a day.

 

We speak to Angela Walsh, a Registered Nurse who leads an incredible team, and she tells us about the importance of what we do and the type of work that lands on her “desk”.
