A partnership between SA Pathology, the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, the University of South Australia, and Australian Genomics is giving new hope to families who experience unexplained pregnancy loss.
The research, which involves genomic testing in addition to standard loss of pregnancy autopsy, has demonstrated a major improvement in providing answers as to the cause of the loss. These answers provide couples and families with improved reproductive pathways that reduce the chance of future pregnancy loss.
The results and a commentary were published in the January issue of Nature Medicine, arguably one of the most prestigious and influential journals that plays a significant role in shaping the direction of medical research and clinical practice.
