Laboratory Information System (LIS)
04 December 2019
On Sunday 15 December, SA Pathology will perform an update of the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
The update is a usual and scheduled upgrade of both software and hardware from the supplier, which will ensure ongoing functionality and service to all users. This will provide time efficiencies and administrative workload savings, which will result in a reduction in pre-testing errors and improved turnaround times (TAT) on many results.
The upgrade is scheduled to commence at 1pm on Sunday 15th December 2019 and will progress throughout the evening, with full restoration of the system expected to occur in the early hours of Monday morning.
Full functionality and availability for community referrers is expected to be available by 8am Monday 16th December 2019.
The upgrade is not expected to affect community referrers, with all urgent and critical pathology results being phoned through to the requesting clinician as per business-as-usual guidelines.
Extensive testing of the upgraded system environment has been completed over a number of months and progress to this stage has not occurred without successful completion of pre-determined milestones. The testing has also been undertaken in line with both industry and SA Health E-Systems frameworks.
The vendor, Cerner, have also completed their own separate testing, in addition to the aforementioned testing performed by SA Pathology.
If you have any queries about the system upgrade please contact the Call Centre by phone 08 8222 3000 or by email Health.SAPathologyCallCentre@sa.gov.au
